Healthy debate about how best companies can show they care about employees health. The current recession has already cost many people their jobs and those still in work are likely to be suffering high degrees of stress surrounding the uncertainty of their own job security.

Elevated stress is often associated with poor diet and lifestyle which increase the chances of developing high blood pressure. Human Resources departments are keen to identify ways to perform under pressure and are issuing instructions about managing stress. This article on perfomance whilst avoiding stress offers simple lifestyle tips that will help maintain a healthy body - lowering blood pressure. Awareness days have been hugely successful - events such as blood pressure testing and more recently stress awareness and testing. One new product is a small square LCD thermometer. Press your finger to the square for a few seconds, and it changes colour depending on how stressed you are. The science behind the stress square is simple. Not measuring blood pressure as such but when we are relaxed, blood flows freely through the body. However, when we are ancxious or stressed, then blood is diverted to the muscles and essential organs, which means that our fingers cool.

Such devices can be stuck on mouse mats or desks and provide a great talking point for staff. As they can be used again and again, they are a simple stress management tool that lasts.

Elsewhere attempts by HR teams to encourage better health lower blood pressure have included association with gyms, bringing trainers into the work place and involving staff in setting goals by charting their activities, lifestyle changes and reduced blood pressure

My My My!!!


As some of you know, I took a vacation and gained upwards of 10 lbs within 2 weeks. All of that hard work and dedication came to a screeching halt once I arrived in America ( I live in Japan at the moment). My sis in law, mom, and family cooked the most delightful foods and deserts that a tongue palette could ever taste! I know I ate atleast 4000 calories every single day I was home, and if you do the math... my weight gain calculates to that. I told everyone that I am on a diet but they still cooked foods and insisted I eat them, they still fed me the wonderful calories that my body craved, and they still had their homes smelling of sweet, mouth watering soul foods that I grew up on and haven't tasted since 2005. Sure, I am an adult, I can make my own decisions...and I guess I made the wrong ones......heres the break down!

3500 calories = 1 pound
I was there for 2 weeks
2 weeks = 14 pounds
I gained = 10 lbs in 2 weeks

So, If I were supposed to gain 14 lbs, I guess that means that my metabolism must have burnt off the other 4 lbs of misery I would have gained if it weren't for my metabolism working in my corner. Nevertheless, I will quit the whining and feeling sorry for myself....
On the brighter side, as soon as I got back, I lost all of the weight right away. I lost 10 lbs in about 2 weeks (give or take a few days). I then lost 1 more pound the following week after my successful 10 lb loss, and then another pound this week so give it up for me you guys! A standing ovation for losing a total of 12 lbs since I got back from america, the beautiful!

Java Tea a herbal remedies that have been used traditional to cure high blood pressure in Asia.Java Tea has long been used in traditional medicine in South East Asia.

It is believed to have antiallergic, antihypertensive, antiinflammatory and diuretic properties. In Malaysia, research institutes such as the Institute of Medical Research and the Kuala Lumpur Hospital of the Malaysian Health Ministry are participating actively in conducting clinical study to prove the efficacy of Java Tea in treating kidney stone disease. The School of Pharmaceutical Sciences,Universiti Sains Malaysia contributes to the scientific research and development of Java Tea by conducting the extraction, quality control, standardization, pharmacological and formulation research.

In Japan, in a study on the antihypertensive substance in the leaves of Java Tea by the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Fukuyama University, exhibited a continuous decrease in systolic blood pressure, a decrease in cardiac output and diuretic action in conscious stroke-prone hypertensive rats.

Avocados


Avocados is natural rich source of Vitamin E and a good source of potassium.It has useful amounts of vitamin B6 and also supply vitamin C, riboflavin and manganese. Vitamin C and Vitamin E are both antioxidant and therefore can help to prevent the free radical damage that might lead to certain cancers.

Potassium helps to control blood pressure as well as maintain a regular heart beat and a healthy nervous system. Vitamin B6 is important for the normal functioning of the nervous system.Low level of vitamin B6 may also be associated with morning sickness.

Avocados have high content of monounsaturated fatty acid, which taught to lover blood cholesterol level. However the weight watchers should beware because avocados may contain up to 400 calories per fruit.

Alfalfa - The Father of All Food

Alfalfa known as the 'Father of all Food' received its name from the Arabs of Persia centuries ago.

Alfalfa leaves and sprouting seeds have been used for thousands of years as a nutritive tonic. Originally native to Asia, the herb was imported into the West by Darius, King of Persia (550-486 BC) during his battles in Greece. Bad News!

Hey Guys,
I went on vacation to America from Japan (my current residence is Japan) and this vacation caused me to fall off track COMPLETELY!! I have done the following:
  • ate 2 large Pizza Hut Pizzas in 2 days
  • ate over 3000 calories in a days time
  • started smoking cigarettes again
  • stopped drinking 8 bottles of water a day
  • haven't worked out since I've been back
  • sleeping schedule is all messed up
  • late night binge eating

And thats just to name a few. I had got down to 173 on my vacation, but then I started eating good food that my mom and sister in law cooked and now I am up to a whopping 186 lbs. That is a 13 lb gain within 2-3 weeks! I am so devastated with my hard work gone down the drain only because I went on a vacation! I need all the support and motivation I can get during this trying time. I want so bad to be able to get back on track and stop smoking cigs... I haven't smoked cigs in YEARS and now I am back to smoking...gee - I am so mad. Well, thats my update and hopefully you guys can whip me back into shape and get me back on track! SMoocHeS!
